Sharks Power Play Explodes: The Gooch Tallys Assist In 6-1 Rout Of Flames

In a game where San Jose chased Miikka Kiprusoff by the start of the 2nd period, the Sharks thrived on the power play. The San Jose defense set two franchise records for most points by the defense and most assists by defense with 9 assists. The franchise set a record as well by having the most games in a single season with over 40 shots. And that record comes at only the 18th game of the young NHL season.

Devin Setoguchi had two key plays to his game tonight. One was the assist on the power play goal by Joe Thornton. Dan Boyle slapped a shot towards the net where Devin redirected it on goal. Curtis McElhinney saved the tip and the rebound bounced to Jumbo Joe for the put back.

The other key play came when defenseman Douglas Murray snapped his stick and Devin skated to Murray, handed over his stick and finished his shift in the defensive zone stickless.

In tonight's game, Setoguchi had 1 assist, 7 shots, and an ice time of 15:49.

On the season, The Gooch has 9 goals, 8 assists and 17 points through 17 games. He is a +6 rating with an average ice time of 15:58.

In comparison, Brendan Morrow, who is 2nd in overall voting in the Western Conference, has 4 goals and 10 assists through 16 games. He is a -4 rating with an average ice time of 21:44.

Remember, voting is open. You can vote at http://fanballoting.nhl.com/ or you can simply text "Setoguchi" to 81812. The website is unfortunately best viewed with Internet Explorer as opposed to FireFox.

Has anyone seen the lastest voting stats for the All Star Game? Zero Sharks forwards are on the team, let alone the starting line up. Boyle is in 7th amongst D men and Nabby is in 3rd in goalies. I'll admit that Nabby isn't having an All Star caliber year but he's the only one who is likely to make the team. This is the Silicon Valley, home of Tech, hacking, programing and Teal Town USA. I'm not saying we should create a program that will stuff the ballot box (read: hell yes we should!!!), but the least we can do is vote. Nightly at the Tank we fill 17,496 seats but no Sharks player has more than 10,000 votes. You are allowed to vote as many times as you would like so if everyone that attends the games votes twice, we would have over 30,000 votes in no time. Not to mention all the fans watching at home or in bars. Lets go people! We can make the starting line-up Sharks vs Habs in Montreal!!

PS: If you want to write in Gouch use: Devin Setoguchi [id: 8471682] Ehrhoff use: Christian Ehrhoff [id: 8469555]. I feel these are two guys who have broken out this year and deserve some recognition.

Montreal has been cheating. I plan to write an entry about how people voting for the Habs have violated league policy for the All-Star Game Voting.

Just found your website. Good idea for the campaign - Seto deserves to be there. Even if we won't be in the top 5, I imagine McLellan will be one on of the coaches for the West and will invite him regardless.

BTW - the big image on your web-site is taken by me. Glad you decided to use it.
